Family Protection Planning, not product selling.

Insurance isn't the exciting part of a financial plan — but it's the part that keeps every other part standing. We treat it as the "Protect" in PLAN • PROTECT • PROSPER: the step that happens before growth, not instead of it.

Protection needs: what are you actually protecting?

Before any policy is discussed, the real question is what your family would need if your income stopped tomorrow — outstanding loans, ongoing living expenses, your children's education, and any other goals that depend on your continued earning. Insurance exists to make sure those needs are met even if you can't be there to meet them yourself.

Life insurance and term insurance

Term insurance is pure protection — a large sum assured for a comparatively modest premium, with no investment component. For most families building wealth in parallel, term insurance (rather than investment-linked insurance policies) tends to provide the most cover per rupee of premium, freeing up more money for goal-based investing. Read more in our Life Insurance guide.

Health insurance: protecting the plan itself

A serious medical event, without adequate health cover, can quietly derail years of disciplined investing — forcing a family to redeem long-term investments at exactly the wrong time. Health insurance planning is about right-sizing cover for your family's real situation, including whether employer-provided cover is sufficient on its own. See our Health Insurance guide.

Motor insurance

Beyond the legal requirement, adequate motor insurance protects against liability and repair costs that can otherwise become a meaningful, unplanned expense. We look at motor cover as part of a family's overall protection picture, alongside life and health.

Policy reviews

Insurance needs change — a new home loan, a new child, a change in income, or simply the passage of time can all mean existing cover no longer matches actual need. A periodic protection review checks whether cover, nominees and policy structure still fit your family's current reality.

Common protection mistakes we see

  • Treating insurance as an afterthought, addressed only after investments are well underway.
  • Confusing investment-linked policies with pure protection, often ending up with less cover than the family actually needs.
  • Relying only on employer cover, which typically ends when employment does.
  • Never updating nominations after a marriage, a child's birth, or other major life change.

PLAN → PROTECT → PROSPER

Within the PROTECT Framework™, protection is addressed directly after planning your goals and reducing financial leakage, and before we talk about expanding wealth. It's a deliberate sequence: growth built without protection is growth built on a fragile foundation.

Frequently Asked Questions

A growth plan built on an unprotected foundation is fragile — a single health event or loss of income can force a family to break long-term investments early. The PROTECT Framework and Family Wealth Pyramid both place adequate protection before wealth creation.

A common starting approach looks at outstanding debts, family living expenses over a reasonable number of years, and future goals like children's education, and sizes cover to replace that need — rather than picking a round number.

Employer-provided health cover is valuable but usually stops the moment you change or leave a job, and sums insured are often modest relative to rising treatment costs. Many families choose to supplement it with an independent personal health policy.

We provide protection planning guidance as part of a family's overall financial plan, helping identify gaps and priorities; specific policy purchase is discussed individually as part of your plan.
